About the Challenge

Forget about building your own AI chatbot from scratch. This is a highly focused, hands-on testing championship. Your mission is to use PostQode AI to thoroughly test a real-world software platform and show everyone what deep, strategic quality thinking actually looks like.

You’ll get to show off your skills in designing test cases, finding clever boundary limits, mapping out system state behavior, and exploring APIs in depth.

PostQode AI is the official and exclusive platform for the championship. Your prompting, test case design, and automated test runs will all live and execute inside it. For live Q&A, chat, and support from mentors, we will all hang out together on the ATA Discord Community.

The App You’ll Test

Coverage Areas — Pick Any Two

Each team chooses any two of the three areas to focus on. Unit Tests is a stretch goal — solid Web and API coverage is what’s expected.

Web (UI)

Browser-based testing of the LMS interface and user flows.

API

Direct API testing, including rules the UI does not expose.

Unit Tests

Stretch goal. Pick it if you want to go further.

What to Test

✔ Leave Management: Apply, approve, reject, and cancel requests across all leave types while ensuring balance accuracy.

Edge Cases – Validate date limits, leave balance boundaries, weekday calculations, and past-date restrictions.

Workflow Validation – Ensure only valid status transitions are allowed and terminal states cannot be reversed.

Access Control – Verify employees can only access their own data, while managers have the correct level of visibility.

API Validation & Security – Test unauthorized actions, invalid employee IDs, malformed requests, and business rules enforced through the API.

01. Test Strategy & Scenarios
Your testing approach, test scenarios, and the rationale behind your coverage.

02. Automation Solution
Automation scripts with execution reports demonstrating the test execution outcomes.

03. Defect Report
A structured report of the bugs identified, including reproduction steps, expected and actual behavior, and severity.

How You’ll Be Evaluated

Our judges will assess the quality of your testing approach, not the number of test cases you create.

  • Test Strategy & Coverage
Demonstrate a well-planned, risk-based testing approach with meaningful coverage.
  • Boundary & Edge Case Testing
Validate limits, edge cases, and boundary conditions to uncover hidden issues.
  • Workflow & State Validation
Test both valid and invalid user flows, including different state transitions.
  • Data Validation
Verify data integrity, access control, and scenarios involving multiple users or roles.
  • Test Data Management
Show a thoughtful approach to creating and managing test data for reliable testing.
  • Effective Use of PostQode AI
Use clear, structured, and purposeful prompts to generate high-quality test assets.
  • Bonus: Real Defect Discovery
Extra credit will be awarded for identifying genuine issues beyond the intentionally seeded defects.
